You need to go to Theraparty

April 9, 2012

Did you know I have an invite shop? Its here... papertherapyshop.etsy.com
This was my invite to the theraparty. The purpose of a theraparty is to do stuff you have always really wanted to but you aren't supposed to and call it "fun" and "hey cops don't worry, its my birthday." The great plate break idea was birthed a couple years on in Austin upon going to central market on lamar. There is this glass shop right next to the deck and every time I passed it, I would think... "what if I just made my arm straight and just ran down an aisle! heaven." So Danay bought me some plates and broke the crap out of them in our driveway. I also want to run over the tops of the pews. again. What do you need to do?

First we started off riding bikes, or in Danay's case, jumping off bikes. Do notice the cat in the street. We named that one Busty.

If you look close you can see the flying plates in these photos.
Amy Mo feeling free
Danay feeling awesomely scared...
Jenn's getting some wedding planning stress out...
I'm looking awkward as usual.

Rob throwing 3 at a time because one wasn't enough.
The neighbors all threw plates too! Yay Kathy, Debbie and other one I don't know your name!
Then Rob decided to make a heart with all the pieces. So symbolic awwww.

and like all good things that end, they get weird cause you don't know what to do with yourself....

Clean & Crisp

April 6, 2012

I am usually all about colors, neons, prints, sequins... you name it! Blame it on the wedding season this time of year, but I am loving all things white. It is so classic and timeless whether you're wearing it head to toe, or sporting a fabulous white accessory. From lace to beading, to leather and gemstones, you can NOT go wrong... white is so right.

And one of my favorite style icons who rocks this color oh so well... Ms. Blake Lively!

LOVE all these looks! Hope y'all are loving this trend as much as me... Happy Friday everyone! And stay classy San Diego.

I will let you in on a little secret

April 5, 2012

I realize all of my latest posts have been about sweets. Sorry, I have had a big sweet tooth lately!
When I got married my aunt gave me a cookbook titled, "Every Blonde Can Cook: Two Hundred 69 Ways To a Man's Heart." You can find it here. Not sure I take that as a compliment, but their recipes have been some of my favorites. I discovered a new take on chocolate chip cookies called "Chippin' Away At His Heart." These are my husband's favorite cookies of all time which does make a girl feel good! So I thought I would share it with you. They are super easy and I have never screwed up a batch!

Ingredients
1 box of yellow cake mix (I like Pillsbury)
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon imitation butter
1 (12 ounce) bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together.
WARNING this will produce the best cookie dough you have ever had and you will be tempted to eat a lot of this but this could produce a very painful stomach ache (just know that you have been warned).
Drop tablespoon sized cookie dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

These cookies are best after they have set for a while. This makes between 2 - 3 dozen.

Enjoy!

Cut the Cake

April 4, 2012

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our very own Danielle Goates!!!!

Now...this week in wedding planning is desserts! It's time in the planning process to pick out your cake... or not? If you opt out of a custom cake like some brides are doing these days (including my sis!) you can choose to serve cupcakes, cookies (Danielle did this too!), pies, or an assortment of them all. Again, it's all about your style! If you are having a more traditional and elegant wedding, I would stick with the cakes. There is nothing more sophisticated than a beautifully tiered wedding cake. If you do choose to try something new, see a few of these ideas below. Which do you like best?

Also side note: I just started my own blog The Collection Cafe where I write about fashion and style through the years. A little preview from this week :)
