Tie it up!

August 15, 2012

Happy Wednesday! Well, I'm diving right back into wedding planning. I have many more DIY projects coming your way. But this week, I thought I'd ask your opinion on some things. I have booked the hair and makeup and now our trial date is coming up. So now we need to figure out which look we want to go with. I love looks that are loose and flow-y, and a little different than the usual. So here are some options. I'd love your input-- which do you like best?? For the bride and for yours truly :)

Have a good rest of the week!

Which way do I go?

August 8, 2012

Sophee here! Back with another DIY project for my sister's upcoming October wedding. I have always been a fan of signage at weddings (as you can probably tell by now). I think handmade crafts are what put such a unique and personalized touch to the special day. These directional signs (is there a name for these?) are some of my favorites. Here is the one I made! And as always, send me any great wedding DIY ideas you have/have seen! Have a wonderful day and rest of your week :)

Bachelor(ette) Party Extravaganza

August 1, 2012

So this weekend was something I've been planning for months now. It was the Bachelor(ette) Party. We decided to have one weekend packed with crazy events and spend it all together instead of separate Bachelor and Bachelorette weekens. And it was so fun!!! Here are some pictures from the weekend.
On Friday, everyone met out at a local park for an evening of grilling, gaming, and drinking. When my sister's fiance and I started planning the event, we really tried to image what her ideal night would be like. And we came up with this. And it was such a great time! Giant Jenga, bean bag toss, inflatable jousting, a little bit of alcohol ;) and it makes for a great time.
Then Saturday morning we did have a little bit of separate gender bonding time. The boys headed off for a day of golf and the girls went on to the lingerie shower. I asked Meghan's best friends to throw this one for her and they did an amazing job! Bloody "Marry" Bar, Mimosas, tacos, and pool time. It really made for a great morning.
My sister (the bride to be)!...
My two sisters and me out by the pool!
Then from there we got dressed in full costume and went to the roller rink. Because really... why not get dressed up and go skating for a Bachelor party?? It was such a great time. Watching people who haven't had skates on in over 10 years is fun enough, let alone dressed in full costume. We had relay racing, tag, food, and drinks... It was such a good time!
Here is my family in costume--- I mean does it get any better than this???
Finally at the end of the longest day of my life, we met back up, rallied, and headed downtown for their final celebrations. All in all, probably the best weekend ever! I highly recommend when planning any sort of party, disregarding tradition and keeping in mind who the party is for. In this case, my sister and her fiance just like to have a good time. They are adventurous and love to try something new and exciting. So we planned events that we wouldn't have the means to do at any other point. And it was such a success. Hope you all enjoyed the pictures!

Have a great rest of your week :)

Mr. and Mrs.

July 25, 2012

Sophee here, back to wedding planning! My weekend was once again filled with trips to local craft stores and working on DIY projects. Up next, adding a little touch to the "seats of honor". I had to battle the wood-cutting-station, or whatever you call it, at Home Depot. Yes I did cut the wood myself! A dad and his two girls walked by as I was wiping sweat from my forehead and one of the girls said "Wow, a girl can cut wood!" Sure can :) It was a very proud moment, I must admit! Anyways, I cut and stained the wood, then just bought wood paint and wrote on the back. Added some sheer ribbon, flowers, and voila the final product! I can't wait to actually see the bride and groom with these at their wedding. Sitting and laughing... listening to my speech... eek I gotta work on that! Getting close now! Hope you liked this weeks project. Enjoy the rest of your week, I encourage you to find a little project to get your creative juices flowing :)
And the best of all..... :)

It's DIY 3 Months Til The Wedding Time

July 11, 2012

So there seems to be a common theme around here-- DIY projects. Now that we are hitting crunch time (approximately 3 months til the wedding) it's time to bust out my paint brush and hot glue gun. I'm excited to share some of the projects I am working on over the next few weeks. My most recent accolade (with a major shout out to Danielle for her mastermind vision and editing) is the Bachelor/Bachelorette party invites. Still finalizing the details of all the events so I would LOVE to hear some of your favorite games played on these celebratory weekends. Please, do share!

Not over dog week...

May 30, 2012

Happy Wednesday everyone! I haven't seemed to get past our amazing dog week last week... so this week I thought I would incorporate my obsession into the next topic on our wedding to-do list. Because why wouldn't your dogs be in your wedding? Okay, okay, I know there are downfalls to having animals at your wedding, however, look how cute! I'd love for you to weigh in, what do you think about having dogs at your wedding? One thing is for sure... in a few years you will be seeing Trigger and Scarlett in a bow tie and tulle dress prancing down the aisle! :)

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

May 16, 2012

As of late, rain has finally graced the presence of Texas. After our extended, drought, no one dare complain about the weather. Except when it comes to weddings. As I dive further into planning the details of the upcoming wedding, I start to feel more and more panicked about the chance of rain. The ceremony and reception are both outdoors, so needless to say we must have a backup plan. The thing is, if it does rain and we go with our backup, I don't want it to look like a Plan B! So I've been perusing through pictures of great tents lately. Here are a few of my favorites. Some are more DIY and some extravagantly beautiful-- (the first images, of course not something to do as a backup), but still great inspiration! Do you have any great backup plan tips or ideas to share? If so, I'd love to hear them!

April 25, 2012

My sister will probably kill me for doing this, but their engagement pictures are up!! And they are amazingggggg!!! They went out to Wimberley with photographer Phillip Glickman just last Friday. Go to the blog and see all the images! Have you ever seen people so beautiful?? No, I am not just biased!! Obsessed with my sister and brother-in-law to be... and their wedding!!

So Many Rentals!

March 28, 2012

Happy Wednesday everyone! Sophee here, back to conquer our next task on the wedding to-do list, rentals! I know this can be overwhelming... chairs, tables, linens, flatware, silverware, glassware, and on and on. So take it one step at a time and remember it's important to keep in mind your style, what do you like? Do you want something clean and simple, glitzy and elegant, vintage and quirky? Whatever feel you are going for on your big day, here is the place to really let it show. Here are a few of my favorite set ups, these were the inspiration I used for planning my sister's big day. Our taste is not the average, but I think that's the fun of it. Find something that represents you as a couple! And enjoy.. this is the fun part!
