Tie it up!

August 15, 2012

Happy Wednesday! Well, I'm diving right back into wedding planning. I have many more DIY projects coming your way. But this week, I thought I'd ask your opinion on some things. I have booked the hair and makeup and now our trial date is coming up. So now we need to figure out which look we want to go with. I love looks that are loose and flow-y, and a little different than the usual. So here are some options. I'd love your input-- which do you like best?? For the bride and for yours truly :)

Have a good rest of the week!

Which way do I go?

August 8, 2012

Sophee here! Back with another DIY project for my sister's upcoming October wedding. I have always been a fan of signage at weddings (as you can probably tell by now). I think handmade crafts are what put such a unique and personalized touch to the special day. These directional signs (is there a name for these?) are some of my favorites. Here is the one I made! And as always, send me any great wedding DIY ideas you have/have seen! Have a wonderful day and rest of your week :)

Mr. and Mrs.

July 25, 2012

Sophee here, back to wedding planning! My weekend was once again filled with trips to local craft stores and working on DIY projects. Up next, adding a little touch to the "seats of honor". I had to battle the wood-cutting-station, or whatever you call it, at Home Depot. Yes I did cut the wood myself! A dad and his two girls walked by as I was wiping sweat from my forehead and one of the girls said "Wow, a girl can cut wood!" Sure can :) It was a very proud moment, I must admit! Anyways, I cut and stained the wood, then just bought wood paint and wrote on the back. Added some sheer ribbon, flowers, and voila the final product! I can't wait to actually see the bride and groom with these at their wedding. Sitting and laughing... listening to my speech... eek I gotta work on that! Getting close now! Hope you liked this weeks project. Enjoy the rest of your week, I encourage you to find a little project to get your creative juices flowing :)
And the best of all..... :)

Something New

July 18, 2012

Happy Wednesday!! So jumping right into it... there are oh so many things on my to-do list these days. Many little DIY projects I'm excited to share over the coming months. My past weekend was filled with trips to Hobby Lobby, Target, the post office, and the liquor store... twice. I'm trying really hard to get all the little things done at least a month prior to the wedding (meaning I have less than 2 months to do them!) since I'm sure many last minute things will spring up. So I'm sharing my tags today that I made for the "somethings"... something new, something old, something borrowed, and something blue! My mom, meme, grandma, and I will all be giving my sister her presents the day of with these attached. Can't share what the presents are just yet, but I am excited! So here are the tags I made. I'd love to know what some of the most original things you've gotten/ seen for weddings are? Can't ever have too many details :) Have a wonderful Wednesday all!
The paper I used... probably wish it was a little more sheer.. but overall the look I was going for!
Tried to study a little calligraphy to do the writing... not the biggest success ;)
Hole punch for the twine to go through
Finished product! (with a little glare) But can't wait to wrap the presents in white paper with some striped ribbon and attach these for my sister the day off- adds a great touch. And everyone will be able to write a little note on the back! Can't wait!!!!

It's DIY 3 Months Til The Wedding Time

July 11, 2012

So there seems to be a common theme around here-- DIY projects. Now that we are hitting crunch time (approximately 3 months til the wedding) it's time to bust out my paint brush and hot glue gun. I'm excited to share some of the projects I am working on over the next few weeks. My most recent accolade (with a major shout out to Danielle for her mastermind vision and editing) is the Bachelor/Bachelorette party invites. Still finalizing the details of all the events so I would LOVE to hear some of your favorite games played on these celebratory weekends. Please, do share!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

May 16, 2012

As of late, rain has finally graced the presence of Texas. After our extended, drought, no one dare complain about the weather. Except when it comes to weddings. As I dive further into planning the details of the upcoming wedding, I start to feel more and more panicked about the chance of rain. The ceremony and reception are both outdoors, so needless to say we must have a backup plan. The thing is, if it does rain and we go with our backup, I don't want it to look like a Plan B! So I've been perusing through pictures of great tents lately. Here are a few of my favorites. Some are more DIY and some extravagantly beautiful-- (the first images, of course not something to do as a backup), but still great inspiration! Do you have any great backup plan tips or ideas to share? If so, I'd love to hear them!

Menswear

May 9, 2012

It's Wednesday yet again! Wednesday keeps arriving much more suddenly than I expect... I'm afraid much like this wedding will! There is still so much to do! Next up... menswear. It's about time to figure out what the groom and groomsmen will wear for the wedding. Black tie event? A tux. Outdoor country feel? Perhaps khakis and boots. Somewhere in the middle? The options are endless. Here are a few of my favorite menswear looks, depending on the style of your wedding. And my absolute favorites? Definitely the skinny tie and/or bow tie! How handsome right??? I am also a big fan of grey suits or black on black... or converse. I'm pretty into that look as well. I won't tell which our lucky groom has chosen, but it's safe to say he will be looking sharp and quite handsome come the big day! Which is your favorite look?

You're Invited to...

May 2, 2012

Happy Wednesday! It's about that time in the wedding planning process to be picking out invitations. You need to have them picked out/ ordered about 6 months before so you have time for them to be designed and printed. There are so many options to pick from--printed, letterpress, modern, elegant... the list goes on and on. Some of my favorite websites to look at are Minted and Hello & Co (all designs are custom!) Here are a few invitations with different styles that I love. And our very own Danielle is a super genius invitation creator BTW :) She is helping me design my sister's... couldn't do it without her!!

The Bachelor(ette) Party

April 18, 2012

Back to wedding planning and scratching things off my list! What has been consuming most of my time and thoughts lately is the Bachelorette and Bachelor parties!! Now my sister and her fiance are not traditional, to say the least, so they are planning a joint party. It's going to be one huge weekend packed with dancing, games, golf, laying out lakeside and so many secrets I can't share yet- they have each planned a surprise event for the other. CANNOT WAIT!! It's not until this summer though so I'm not going to spill the details, but here are a few cute ideas I found like a wine tasting, karaoke, an adult camping trip... with s'mores!, or my personal favorite... the peddle party! What has been your favorite Bachelorette/Bachelor party activity? Anything cute ideas or suggestions I need to fit into our weekend??
