Wedding Wednesday: Book it!

January 18, 2012

I’m excited to introduce my new series about wedding planning. My sister is getting married in October of this year and I have officially taken over as wedding planner extraordinaire. Something about my obsession with weddings coupled with her absolute lack of interest, we make a pretty good team. Since I’m a rookie at this, I thought I’d share my experience with you all, step by step, a “how to” plan your wedding if you will. I think if you know someone or happen to be one of the lucky type A personalities out there, there’s no reason you can’t do it yourself!

So first step, secure a date! How do you do this? Most importantly, find a venue (and confirm the dates with your officiant, if needed).  So here are a few of the venues I’ve run across doing my research, some casual with benches and pillows, some more elegant with a long rose-lined aisle. Which is your favorite?

And the winner is... the most beautiful of all (since we don't live where ever that first picture was taken)... Laguna Gloria!

In the Closet With Proenza Schouler…

January 17, 2012

Feeling like you need a little P.O.C. (pop of color) in your outfit to fight off the winter greys and blacks?? I spotted some Proenza Schouler bags online the other day and wowza. Not to mention their divine shoes, jewelry, clothes, I can go on and on. take a look at these beauties, it's true love. Check it!

I love their blanket tribal print and bright color scheme. These guys aren't afraid of color, which makes their pieces just perrrrfect for anyone who wants a little something special. So what’s with the name? I know right. Apparently these two fellas met in fashion school, and founded their brand after their mothers’ maiden names, Proenza and Schouler. You’re welcome. Now, back to the eye candy…

Can't afford their stuff? ME EITHER! In the mean time, you can always opt for a fabulous accessory like shoes, bracelets, or whatever fits your shopping budget! YOU CAN however, use their designs for your own inspiration the next time you shop. Check out some items I found on Asos that are Proenza inspired... (or at least I think so!)

I'm BEAMing

January 16, 2012

I am so excited to be back with new blog members and daily posts!
I will be posting Mondays about the store and home design,
Kendall will post on Tuesdays about Fashion,
Sophee will post Wednesdays about wedding planning and such,
Danielle R. will post about cooking and health on Thursdays...
and Danay will post Fridays about ... something :)

Rob and I are continuously looking at houses to buy. We currently live in a rental house... and we're done with it... but our lease says otherwise. So we escape our tiny cubical rental by searching homes and looking at pictures.

I have decided I want an older home because it has more character... and by character I mean BEAMS. Beams are so beautiful and add so much charm!

My "beam" now... go popcorn!

Don't paint the beams. ever. Even though this room does look good.

Kendall Cockerham for introducing me to this jewel.
